Alexandria was the city of Alexander and the capital of Egypt for a thousand years. Until 30 B.C., it was the biggest city globally; then, it was second only to Rome. It had the most extensive library globally and the most famous lighthouse (Pharos). You will start your tour early at 7 am and drive for about 3 hours to reach Alexandria, where you will begin with visiting the Catacombs of Kom el-Shokaffa dating back to 1st century A.D. Then you will proceed to Pompey's pillar and the ruins of Serapis temple, Fort of Qaitbay dating back to the 15th century and built over the site of Alexandria Lighthouse (Pharos) to defend Egypt against Ottoman invasion. Then you will have lunch at a good quality seafood restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean; later, you will proceed to the Roman Amphitheater and the Library of Alexandria.
You will be transferred back to your hotel at the end of the tour.
