Bab al-Futuh
Bab al Futuh is one of three remaining gates in the walls of the old city of Cairo, Egypt. It was finished in the year 1087 and faces north. The other two remaining gates are Bab al-Nasr (Victory Gate) in the north and Bab Zuwayla (Gate of Zuwayla) in the south.[1] Bab al-Zuwayla and Bab al-Futuh are located on Muizz Street in Cairo.[2]

The gate was part of fortification built by Vizier Badr al-Jamali of Fatimid Imam/caliph Mustansir. Its rounded towers were a stronger defense than the square towers of Bab al-Nasr (another Old City gate, just to the east). They had shafts for pouring boiling water or burning oil on attackers, and arrow slits. The gate is covered in vegetal and geometric motifs.

Madrasa of Sultan Barquq
Mosque-Madrasa of Sultan Barquq or Mosque-Madrasa-Khanqah of Az-Zaher Barquq is a religious complex in Islamic Cairo, the historic medieval district of Cairo, Egypt. It was commissioned by Sultan al-Zahir Barquq as a school for religious education in the four Islamic schools of thought, composed of a mosque, madrasa, mausoleum and khanqah. The complex was constructed in 1384-1386 CE (786 to 788 AH), with the dome added last. It was the first architectural facility built during the time of the Circassian (Burji) dynasty of Mamluk Sultanate.

The complex is situated in the traditional area of Muizz Street.[1][2] Along with the Complex of Sultan Qalawun and the Madrasa of al-Nasir Muhammad, with which it is contiguous, it forms one of the greatest arrangements of Mamluk monumental architecture in Cairo, in the section of al-Mu'izz street known as Bayn al-Qasrayn.

Gray Mosque (El-Aqmar Mosque)
Al-jāmiʿ al-aqmar, or al-Aqmar Mosque was built in Cairo, Egypt, as a neighborhood mosque by the Fatimid vizier al-Ma’mun al-Bata’ihi in 1125-6 CE (519 Hijri).[1] Similarly to the mosque of al-Azhar (970) and the mosque of al-Hakim (990-1013), formerly named al-Anwar, the name of the al-Aqmar mosque is an epithet of the patron in connection with light.[2] The mosque is situated on what was once the main avenue and ceremonial heart of Cairo, in the immediate neighborhood of the Fatimid caliphal palaces, known today as Muʿizz Street.
