What To Expect
Cairo
Your first stop is the Great Pyramid, built by Khufu around 2500 BC, the last remaining wonder of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Next, admire the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure, and the smaller pyramids of the queens, before strolling up to a viewpoint to capture panoramic pictures. Here you'll enjoy a 25-minute ride on a camel led by an experienced cameleer. Next, explore the Valley Temple of King Khafre, which may well have been where the pharaoh's body was mummified, and marvel at the Sphinx, before breaking for lunch in a local restaurant with views over the UNESCO-listed site.
After lunch, drive into Cairo for a guided tour of the Egyptian Antiquities Museum, home to probably the world's greatest collection of Egyptian artefacts. Marvel at the golden treasures of the boy king Tutankhamen, the portraits of his heretic father, Akhenaten, animal mummies, statuary, and much, much more.
