Half Day Memphis, Dashur and Saqqara

We traveled to Egypt independently without booking a traditional group package. We were fortunate enough to have friends in Egypt and spent most of our time with them. However, when we also wanted to turn our trip into an educational one, which was why we booked a day tour to Memphis, Dashur and Saqqara, with Ramasside Tours. I made several adjustments prior to taking our tour such as a window of time that we would like to be back at our hotel. All of our requests were promptly handled. Nada (booking agent) always kept in touch with me and she was always in communication with our tour guides and drivers.
I will share more about our Luxor tour in another review. Haytham was our tour guide and punctually met us in our lobby. We were staying at the Steinberger’s Cairo Pyramids Hotel, right across Alessandra road from the Great Pyramids and the New Egyptian Museum that’s set to open in 2020.
Tourism is the main source of income for Egyptians and as such, there’s always an accounting of where we are and where we are going to ensure our safety. So while our driver registered his vehicle with our hotel, Haytham began explaining to us the history of the new Egyptian Museum and the concerns educators are having with the execution of moving the artifacts from the old museum to the new one, the main one being they don’t want to lose any pieces.
Once we were cleared, we were headed to the old capital of Memphis. It was about 12 miles away from our hotel and while we drove Haytham not only shared with us the history of the Old Kingdom and it’s most significant rulers but how Egypt’s ancient history is connected to its modern-day issues. The election for term limits was going on while we were there and my husband had been curious so asked him to explain a bit about current politics. Haytham did a wonderful job of explaining the parallels between today and ancient Egypt. The way he had also organized our tour also made historical sense in that Memphis, Dashur, and Saqqara served different functions in the Old Kingdom. You can tell Haytham is an educator by the way he engages in discussion and asks questions about why we thought an event may or may not have been significant. He shared so much about the secrets yet to be discovered and possible revisions of what we think about the Old Kingdom we were pleasantly surprised by. What I also appreciated about him was that he didn’t solicit other business to us. He was a wonderful tour guide and I would highly recommend him and Ramasside if you travel independently to Egypt!

Great day with great local guides

We had a private tour given by Eslam and driver Mohamad, arranged over the phone and email by Haitham. We were picked up from our hotel on time and had a great experience visiting Memphis, Sakkara and Giza, finishing off with a stop for kejouli on the way back to the hotel in Cairo. Everyone was very professional and the trip went very smoothly. I'm very happy l chose Ramasside Tours.

My husband and I visited Cairo over the past weekend. I booked my favorite Cairo guide Haytham Hafez for the third time during my 2 day layover to take us to see the Giza Pyramids, Solar Boat, Sphinx, Step Pyramid at Sakkara. Although we already visited these exact same places last year, it was such a pleasure to revisit these gems with Haytham's expert guidance and knowledge of Egyptian history. We look forward to returning again soon!

Amazing Family Tour of Step, Bent and Red Pryamids

I highly recommend Ahmed (tour guide) and Farouk (driver) for any tour in the Cairo area. Ahmed's English was great and he worked hard to give us interesting information about all 3 pyramids and the ancient city of Memphis. He was able to answer all of our questions. He offered two other stops which we chose to do, and we felt no pressure to stop or to buy. We always knew how long until the next stop. He was sure to tell us of bathroom stops, made sure we had enough water and were generally comfortable. Farouk was a great driver. None of the crazy speeding up or quick turns that I'm used to in Egypt. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Thanks to our guide Yasmin we had wonderful two days in Cairo, visiting the Civilization Museum, Cairo off the beaten path, Sakkara, Memphis and Dashhur and Coptic Cairo. We LOVED this day tour. Mr. Paula was a fantastic guide, and our trip planner Ms. Nada set everything up perfectly.
We saw the Giza pyramids the day before and those were great, but this was even better! We really enjoyed going inside the red pyramid. Lunch was great, and Paula's enthusiasm elevated each amazing thing we saw.

We had a nice tour to Sakkara, Memphis and Dahshur! Our guide was Nour. She gave us very good explanation on the pyramids and it helped us understand why these pyramids were built. She offered us very delicious Egyptian lunch. Also, she took us a perfume store and a papaya museum. She did not insist us to buy something. I know the pyramids in Giza are the biggest ones, but recommend visiting these pyramids as they give us different impression on the pyramids and history of Egypt. Thank you so much!
